Originally released in 1994 on Sound Pollution Records and out of print on vinyl since, this was the final release by Minneapolis’ Destroy. Recorded after the band's six-week 1993 tour, it captures the power and energy of the early 90’s DIY hardcore scene exploding at that time. Destroy formed in 1989 and was a part of the worldwide movement from 1980’s hardcore punk towards more fast and extreme music. Destroy had roots in the radical Anarcho-Punk scene and integrated elements of Fastcore, Crust, and Grindcore into a powerful and heavy hardcore sound with a driving political message. Emerging from the same radical punk milieu as the Profane Existence Collective and bands like Disrupt, Doom, Extreme Noise Terror, and Nausea the band mixed powerful music with political protest and social commentary. Some of the lyrics may have at one time seemed a bit dated but sadly, given the state of the world today, many could be about current events. Due to the original recording going over the time booked in the studio, it had to be mixed later at another studio with different engineer leading to a mix that wasn’t as heavy as originally envisioned. This remastered release gives it the heavier sound the band had originally intended to achieve. New cover artwork by Tim Tanker re-imagines the original concept of “Necropolis” a city of the dead, or better put, a city of brain-dead zombies whose minds are captured by a corrupt system and robbed of their freedom
