Malibu Barbi was an all-female heavy metal band from San Francisco, active in the late 1980s. Formed from the remnants of the earlier band Rude Girl, Malibu Barbi featured vocalist Leather Leone, who later gained prominence with the band Chastain.
In 1987, Malibu Barbi released a 12-inch single titled Rude Girls, which included the tracks “When Lightning Strikes” and “Lords of the Night.” This release showcased their blend of speed and progressive metal, characterized by powerful vocals and energetic instrumentation.
Although their discography is limited, Malibu Barbi holds a place in the history of female-fronted metal bands, representing the vibrant San Francisco metal scene of the 1980s.
